WIP: 2008 WIPAC Officers

Members of the WIPAC are appointed by the Councilmember of the Fifteenth District and are the official Citizens Advisory Committee to the Community Redevelopment Agency. The WIPAC was formally known as the "RAC", Revitalization Advisory Committee for the Wilmington Industrial Park, which was originally constituted in 1974. Almost 30 years later, some original appointees continue to serve guiding redevelopment efforts in the Wilmington Industrial Park, which include encouraging new businesses to move into the area, retain and create new employment opportunities, foster a positive business park image and promote the overall economic well being of the area. WIPAC members serve on a volunteer basis and represents Project Area businesses, property owners, community organizations and residents of Wilmington. Individuals serve a two-year term.

Bill Schwab

"I have known Bill since the first time I ran for City Council in 1992. It was Bill and Gertrude that first introduced to me to the history of Wilmington and the truth about how the community had been neglected for years. From that point on, I could always count on Bill to keep updated on Wilmington.

Bill and Gertrude were a real team. They were partners in activism. Their love for Wilmington was almost as strong as their love for each other.

Bill Schwab was a great man who enjoyed being with people, loved telling stories of his time in the Merchant Marines and greatly valued serving his community. He was a real Wilmington hero whose contributions will live on."
